FAQ's of D And H 1223(NS) Electrodes for Nickel and its Alloys:

Q: How should D And H 1223(NS) Electrodes be stored to maintain quality?

A: It is essential to store the electrodes in a dry environment to prevent moisture absorption. If there is any suspicion of moisture exposure, re-bake the electrodes at 250C for two hours before use to restore optimal welding characteristics.

Q: What are the recommended welding positions for these electrodes?

A: D And H 1223(NS) Electrodes can be used in all conventional welding positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead, providing remarkable versatility for various fabrication and repair tasks.

Q: When is preheating necessary for welding with D And H 1223(NS) Electrodes?

A: Preheating is generally not required with these electrodes. However, during welding, it is advisable to maintain interpass temperatures up to 150C to ensure optimal weld quality and mechanical properties.

Q: Where are these electrodes commonly applied?

A: These electrodes are extensively used in the joining and surfacing of nickel and nickel alloy components, especially in the power, chemical, and petrochemical industries. They are excellent for both production and maintenance operations.

Q: What are the benefits of using D And H 1223(NS) Electrodes?

A: Benefits include a stable arc, minimal spatter, high weld metal recovery (approx. 120%), easy slag removal, and excellent mechanical properties such as 600 MPa tensile strength and 30% elongation. These features support efficient, quality welds with reduced post-weld finishing.

Q: How do I select the correct diameter for my application?

A: The electrode is available in 2.5 mm, 3.15 mm, 4.0 mm, and 5.0 mm diameters. Choose the diameter based on your joint design, thickness of the workpiece, and required deposition rate for optimal welding performance.
